About the Opportunity:
The NEF Television and Film Production Fund is a strategic funding programme aimed at supporting South Africa’s film and television industry. It is designed to increase black economic participation and ownership in this high-potential creative sector.
Purpose of the Fund
The fund finances:
Production and post-production of feature films, documentaries, TV series, and animation
Projects with strong commercial viability and a local content focus
Benefits:
Equity funding and/or loan support up to a maximum of R75 million per transaction
Financial support for pre-production, production, and post-production phases
Access to NEF’s mentorship and investor readiness programmes
Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants must:
Be South African citizens (with preference to black-owned and managed entities)
Hold full rights to the intellectual property (IP) or production
Present a viable business plan and distribution strategy
Demonstrate potential to generate jobs and local economic development
Secure a broadcaster or distribution agreement (local or international)
