About the Opportunity

In an effort to boost enterprise development, the Eskom Development Foundation has been running the annual Eskom Business Investment Competition (BIC) since 2008. The BIC provides a great platform for South African owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to become part of a community of like-minded entrepreneurs as they look to build on their businesses’ solid foundation and realise their true potential.

Criteria

Black-owned, registered small and medium enterprises
Operational for at least 24 months

in the following Sectors:

Engineering/construction,
Manufacturing, agriculture/agri-processing
Trade/services sectors

Deadline for Submission:

30 August 2021

Prizes

All the BIC’s winners, runners-up and finalists get to enjoy the awesome prizes on offer along with other benefits, which include increased awareness through media coverage and exhibiting of their businesses at an exclusive expo for small businesses, where they can network and share valuable experiences with other entrepreneurs as well as connect with some 7000 potential investors and visitors.

With R1.3 million worth of prizes up for grabs in the competition, finalists get to compete to win their share, which they must use to improve their businesses. The overall winner takes away a R150 000 cash prize. Winners of each sector receive R100 000; the first runners-up in each of the sectors receive R50 000 while the second runners-up each receive R25 000. All other finalists each receive R5 000.
